The '19'
TALES FROM THE STREET
This project was in partnership with the youth services to work with a group of young South Asian teenagers to look at barriers that face them as well as looking at identity and community. The young people came from a non performing background and led quite challenging lives, over a period four months the young people explored issues that affected them. The group collectively devised, improvised and developed the play, right through to scriptwriting from their stories, and the final piece enabled them to share their voices.
Role: Writer/Director Funded by M6 Theatre & Youth Service
'Seeing how we all grew in confidence, acting and performing I never realised how powerful it would be in front of an audience who laughed and at times emotional, I loved every moment'
